Wine enthusiasts will be the first to tell you wine tasting at high altitudes offers a few extra dynamics. What are the benefits of sampling wine at higher elevations?

This Saturday, make your way to Powderhorn on the Grand Mesa, and sample a variety of wines from across the region with Western Slope Uncorked. Not only will you have the opportunity to enjoy each selection's signature qualities, you'll also enjoy the unique attributes associated with lower air pressure.

For those who've consumed alcohol at high altitudes, you already know how quickly you can pack on a wicked buzz. Some enthusiasts believe various tastes can be augmented at higher elevations as well.

What if one went for the brass ring and sampled a glass of wine at nearly 30,000 feet from atop Mount Everest?

While we won't be going to 30,000 feet with Western Slope Uncorked, our wine tasting will be done at an elevation of 8,200 feet. Keep in mind, not only will you be sampling wine at higher elevations, you'll be enjoying wine made from grapes cultivated at high altitudes.

Sample some of Western Colorado's best wines while enjoying live music from the Shae Bramer Band and Country stars Restless Heart, coming up Saturday, August 1, at Powderhorn on the beautiful Grand Mesa.
