Waylon Jordan

Is Waylon my real name? Yes. I was born and raised in Grand Junction, and plan to stay here forever. After 15 years of touring with Country bands, I decided to get legit and find a way to play Country music all day without having to live in a van. I came to work for KEKB 15 years ago, and haven’t looked back. When not on the radio, I love performing with the Desert Flyer Band, The Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra, The Western Colorado Jazz Orchestra, Cool Jazz, The Frank Bregar Orchestra, Hot Tub Jazz, Clark Gualt’s Swing City Express, and Javier De Los Santos Mariachi San Jose. When not performing music with my groups, I love telling you about all the live music going on around the Western Colorado.

Have you ever noticed the dedication plaque posted on the wall along the Riverside Parkway on the 5th Street overpass? It's kind of small, and hard to read when you're doing 40 miles per hour. What exactly does it say?

Remembering James ‘Scotty’ Doohan on His 97th Birthday

When it comes to the cast of the original Star Trek, I can't help but think James Doohan is my all time favorite. The brilliant actor took what began as barely a supporting role, and turned it into a legendary character. Let's pause for a moment to remember this remarkable man on what would have been his 97th birthday.

Western Colorado First Responders of Yesteryear

Let's all take a moment to honor the men and women who served with the Grand Junction Fire Department and the Mesa County Sheriff's Office over the years. Recent events got me thinking of local firefighters and deputies and inspired me to dig up these Bob Grant photos from yesteryear.

This Western Colorado Trail Isn’t Getting the Love it Deserves

There is an excellent trail on the Lunch Loop system which isn't getting the love it so very much deserves. It's an excellent hike, not too far out of town, and offers tons of scenic beauty. The next time you hike, why not show this trail a little attention.

Vintage Commercial of Grand Junction’s Lost Amusement Park

I sure do miss this place. Not that long ago, you could take the family to enjoy all sorts of fascinating rides and games, and never have to leave Grand Junction. Not only did this amusement park feature awesome rides, it also produced one incredibly good commercial jingle.
