As of yesterday, Colorado joins most other states in the nation with tougher DUI laws. Governor Hickenloopers signed a bill yesterday which will crack down on repeat DUI offenders.

The new law, going into effect August 5, makes an offender's fourth DUI a felony which could result in up to six years in prison and up to $500,000.00 in fines.

This was not the first time politicians have tried to pass the bill. According to KKCO 11 News, in recent years, the bill had failed to pass due to concerns of increased costs to courts and prisons.
