I have to say I never expected it - not even slightly.

A few days ago I came to the realization that my old thermal coffee mug had died and no longer had the ability to keep my hot coffee hot. It was such a sad day for me. We had been through so much together.

The fact is, drinking coffee is what radio DJ's do. We drink coffee and spin the hits - it's as simple as that. Consequently, the receptacle one drinks from is quite essential.

So, of course, I was lamenting the sad fact that this unfortunate occurrence had occurred. I can't really explain why, but it just felt good to let all of that bent up emotion out and to be completely transparent with my listening audience. Most of the time, I try to put on the happy face, but in this case, I just couldn't do it.

Imagine my surprise this week when a package arrived at the radio station addressed to me. The return address was Amazon. What in the world??

I opened up the package and what did my wondering eyes see? A brand new, heavy duty, high-quality thermal coffee mug. Same brand, same make, and model - just five years newer.

I pulled the mug from the large envelope and scoured the inside for a card or a note - some indication of who had sent me this wonderful gift. But, there was none. I was left to wonder who in the world was responsible for this act of kindness. Santa?

Perhaps one day it will be revealed, or maybe that person will choose to remain anonymous. But this one thing I know. Until that day comes, I will be enjoying some marvelously delicious hot coffee each and every day as I sit at the radio studio controls. With each delectable sip, I shall be filled with much gratitude for the kindness of this one amazing listener.

My cup of blessings runneth over.
