Paonia was the scene of a multi-agency raid Wednesday.

Authorities were alerted to the possible lab by a Paonia resident and on Wednesday, specialized teams from California and Salt Lake City were on hand to make sure the lab was secured and any hazardous materials were dealt with.

As a result, Colorado 133 was closed for several hours as officials secured the lab, unsure at this point what exactly was being made there.

Authorities state testing is necessary to determine whether methamphetamine or ecstasy was being made in the garage where the lab was set up.

In addition to allegedly making dangerous drugs, the ingredients pose significant health and environmental risks which will need to be dealt with.

Authorities also stated there was a woman present in the house when the search warrant was issued, but are unsure what if any involvement the woman had with the lab was.

The man who was renting the residence was located in Michigan and is being held on possible drug charges.
