A Grand Junction psychologist testified that Austin Holzer could be considered a psychopath.

The 18-year-old who is in custody for the shooting death of Mesa County Sheriff's Deputy Derek Geer, was given what professionals call the 'Hare Pyschopathy Checklist.' This checklist contains 20 items, characteristics or traits that are looked at with individuals. Pathological lying, irresponsibility, lack of remorse and manipulative are some of the items that are looked at.

KKCO NEWS11 reported that Dr. Weir never actually interviewed the suspect himself, but used a previous recording of another doctor's testing of Holzer using the Hare Psychopathy Checklist.

A score of 30, on this test, is considered a very potential psychopath.

Holzer scored 34.7

The next court date is January 30th. This preliminary hearing will determine if Holzer will be tried as a juvenile or as an adult.
