Longtime Grand Junction staple, Albertsons, has just closed its doors. That leaves another empty building in Grand Junction. What would make a great fit in that space?

Albertson's on 12th Street has recently closed as the company combines with Safeway here in Grand Junction. That left roughly 70 residents unsure about their employment future. Plus, it also left an addition to the seemingly growing list of unoccupied, vacant and deserted structures here in Grand Junction.

It seems like a pretty good location for something. A lot of CMU students would shop them, so whatever would go in there, would probably have to cater to the college crowd.

Food, I suppose would be an option. According to GrubHub, here are some of the Top Ten Foods College Kids Order.

  • Buffalo Chicken Wings (GJ does NOT have a Wing Stop)
  • Pizza by the slice
  • Chocolate Chip Brownies
  • Chicken Souvlaki Pita
  • Frozen Yogurt

Top Five successful franchises in the United States are:

  • Jimmy John's
  • UPS Store
  • Dunkin' Doughnuts
  • McDonalds
  • 7-11 C-Store

Maybe one of those options. Or maybe go WAY outside of the box with one of these ACTUAL businesses:

  • Pet Psychic
  • Cuddle Party
  • Something Store
  • Potato Parcel
  • Box Cycle
